Our story

Built from both sides of the permit counter.

ProCodes wasn't designed in a boardroom. It was designed in the truck between inspections, on the jobsite waiting on a final, and at the kitchen table after the city's third voicemail of the week. We know construction software because we live in it.

01 — Origin

It started in a building department south of the metro.

Our founder spent the early part of his career as a building inspector for local municipalities south of the Kansas City metro area. Permits, plan reviews, re-inspections, code lookups, contractor licenses, complaint files — the full job, every day, for years.

That role taught him something most software companies never learn firsthand: how much of a city's building department actually runs on memory, sticky notes, and a filing cabinet someone's afraid to reorganize. Accurate project tracking, clear communication, fast code references, and organized documentation aren't nice-to-haves. They're the entire job.

Working with multiple jurisdictions showed him something else: every city had the same pain points, and almost none of them had tools modern enough to solve them.

02 — The Problem

Two sides of the same counter, both stuck with the wrong tools.

Cities

Outdated systems. Scattered paperwork.

Permits, inspections, contractor licenses, and code-enforcement cases were spread across binders, spreadsheets, email threads, and software that hadn't been redesigned in twenty years. Tracking down the status of a single permit could mean three phone calls and a trip to the back office.

Contractors

Unclear communication. Slow updates.

On the other side of the counter, contractors were waiting days for inspection status, hunting down code references, and duct-taping their own systems together — change orders in Word, invoices in Excel, photos on someone's phone. The two worlds rarely talked to each other.

03 — The Move

From inspector to contractor — and back again, with software.

After years in local government, our founder transitioned deeper into the construction industry and now runs a successful custom home construction company. That move gave him something rare: a real perspective from both sides of the permit counter.

He understands what cities need to stay organized, compliant, and efficient. He understands what contractors need to keep crews moving, clients informed, and projects profitable. ProCodes was built to bring those two worlds together.

Our Mission

Help municipalities and contractors communicate better, track projects more efficiently, and simplify the code and permit process through modern software built specifically for the construction industry.

04 — What we stand on

Quality, communication, and accountability at the center of every project.

We believe those three should be the baseline of how construction work gets tracked and communicated. ProCodes is designed to make them easier to live up to.

01

Quality

Software that holds up to real conditions — fast, accurate, and built around how the work actually happens.

02

Communication

Cities, inspectors, contractors, and developers shouldn't be guessing at each other's status. Everyone sees what they need to see.

03

Accountability

Records, photos, timelines, and decisions, all in one place — so when someone asks what happened, the answer is one click away.
