ProCodes Verified Builder

ProCodes Verified

A mark for builders and trades who document their work — and can prove it. Held to a published standard, granted by us, and taken back if it stops being true.

If a contractor showed you this badge

It means they keep records, and they let you see them.

Most disputes between a homeowner and a builder aren't about bad work. They're about a decision nobody wrote down — an allowance somebody remembers differently, a change that got made on a Tuesday and billed in March, a finish that isn't the one you thought you picked.

A contractor carrying this badge runs their jobs in a system where those things get written down as they happen, and where you sign off on what you're agreeing to before it costs you money. That's the whole claim. It's a narrow one, and it's the one that stops most arguments before they start.

You approve it in writing

Selections and change orders come to you as a document with the price on it. You type your name. You get a PDF back with the date on it.

The money is documented

Invoices are checked against what was actually agreed. Overages and duplicates get flagged before they reach your draw.

You can ask and get an answer

The record exists and it's current. "Let me check" turns into an answer the same day, not after somebody digs through a truck.

The standard

What a company has to do to carry it

Every badge is granted by ProCodes and reviewed against these four things. We don't sell it, and it isn't automatic — nobody gets it by signing up.

01
Six months of real use

Verified companies have been running work through ProCodes for at least six months. Long enough that it isn't a trial, a demo, or an account opened last week to look the part.

02
Jobs managed in the system

Not a login that gets used twice a year. Their active work lives here — budgets, invoices, change orders, costs — and it's current, not reconstructed at the end of a job.

03
Clients kept in the loop, in writing

Selections and change orders go to the client for written approval before the money moves. Decisions are documented as they happen, so nobody is relying on what they remember about a conversation in a driveway.

04
In good standing

An active account with ProCodes and no unresolved complaint from a client who used this mark to make a decision. The badge can be withdrawn, and that is what makes it worth displaying.

Just as important

What this badge is not

We'd rather tell you the limits of this mark than let you assume something we haven't checked. If anyone suggests this badge covers the items below, they're overstating it — and we'd like to know.

A licence check

We don't verify state or municipal licensing. Ask to see their licence — any legitimate contractor will show you.

Proof of insurance

We don't hold or confirm certificates of insurance. Ask for a current COI naming you, and call the carrier if you want certainty.

A review of their work

We've never been to their jobsites. This says nothing about craftsmanship. References and finished homes tell you that.

A background or credit check

We don't run either. This is a record of how somebody documents their work, and nothing more.

Something not right?

If a company is displaying this badge and their conduct doesn't match it — or they're using it and shouldn't be — tell us and we'll look into it. We can withdraw the mark, and we will. Write to [email protected].

For contractors

Give a client a reason to pick you before you've met.

Every builder in your market says they communicate well and keep good records. You're asking a homeowner to take that on faith against three other bids that say the same thing.

This is a way to point at something instead. It sits on your website, your proposals and your truck, it links back to a published standard you had to meet, and it says the quiet part out loud: this one writes things down.

Already a customer? If you meet the standard, write to us and we'll get you the artwork.

General contractors
ProCodes Verified Builder

Read by homeowners. Says you run an organised job and they'll know where their money went.

Subcontractors & trades
ProCodes Verified Trade

Read by the GCs deciding who to put on a job. Says your invoices will be clean and your time logs will be real.

Once you have it

Put it where it does the work

The badge is worth more as a link than as a picture — a client who can click through and read the standard is a client who believes it. Drop this into your site and it stays current no matter what we add to this page later.

Your website footer

Alongside your licence number and association logos, where people already look for reassurance.

Proposals and bids

On the cover page. It's doing its best work at the moment somebody is comparing you to two other numbers.

Email signature and truck

Small, and everywhere. It builds recognition long before anyone asks what it means.

The mark stays the property of ProCodes and is licensed to companies that meet the standard, for as long as they meet it. Please don't alter the artwork, recolour it, or use it to imply we've checked anything listed above as out of scope.
